Summary

How can funders better support boys and young men through funding and partnerships?

How can funders better support boys and young men through their existing priorities, funding decisions and partnerships?

Join NPC and Movember for an interactive online roundtable with Alex Hayes, NPC’s Director for Philanthropy, Sarah Sternberg, Movember’s Global Director for Reimagining Masculinities and Mark Cobain, Movember’s Director of Health Systems in UK & Ireland.

Our research, The Invisible Field, found that support for boys and young men is rarely recognised, funded or coordinated as a distinct field, despite challenges across education, employment, mental health, belonging and safety. It calls for a more intentional approach that recognises the strengths and potential of boys and young men, not just the problems they face.

Together, we’ll explore how funders can turn these insights into action.

Through a presentation and two small-group discussions, we will consider:

  • Understanding the landscape: What does The Invisible Field tell us about the challenges facing boys and young men?
  • Reflecting on funding practice: Where do boys and young men feature in funding portfolios, explicitly or implicitly? What might a more intentional approach involve?
  • Identifying barriers and opportunities: What evidence, information or practical support would help funders respond?
  • Moving towards collective action: Where could collaboration make a difference, and what should NPC, Movember and funders do next?
